Jean Hewitt MSc, MRICS, MBIFM, NRAC,

Jean is a consultant member of the National Register of Access Consultants (NRAC) and has considerable experience in the design and management of inclusive environments, services and staff training. She has experience of working in the public and private sectors as an access adviser and, in addition to auditing and design appraising many public and commercial environments, Jean has undertaken research on pan disability access to colleges and sensory access (sight, hearing and autism) in Higher Education environments.

Work is undertaken throughout the UK and overseas and clients are spread across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Jean’s approach to auditing is detailed on the "Auditing" page of this website.

As a qualified trainer in Disability Equality and Awareness, access auditing and inclusive design, Jean delivers a range of workshops to private, public and voluntary sector clients – please see “Training” page for further details. She is also a qualified electronic notetaker for disabled people and provide inclusive design guidance and artwork on brochures and other printed material.

Jean was Consultant Editor and contributing author to the Croner CCH publication: "Access and Inclusion - A Management Guide" and has contributed many special reports and articles to established facility management and health and safety guides.

Jean has been an accredited fire risk assessor since 2006 and has developed her keen interest in fire safety arrangements for disabled people and recently completed post graduate research in the area of safe carry down arrangements. (See Health, Safety and Fire page)

A chartered Surveyor (Facilities Management) by background, Jean has now specialised in access and egress for disabled people for over ten years. She represents the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) on the British Standards Institute B559 Committee “Access to Buildings”.
